December was a whirlwind event with the usual Christmas celebrations and observances, hopefully everyone had a joyful event with family and friends.
With the Stated Communications we were informed of the decision by Grand Lodge to suspend all installations until February due to concerns over the recent uptick in COVID cases statewide.
With the introductions we had eight who had not served as Worshipful Master, two Past Masters and one District Deputy Grand Master in attendance. Additionally, there was one petition for Affiliation and one request for Demit.
Also, Brother Brandon Bateman, one of our newest Master Masons, and it appears one destined to be a rising star in the Lodge and in Freemasonry, returned his Master Mason catechism. A very hearty and sincere congratulations to him for such an outstanding accomplishment.
The Christmas Basket program went off as planned and the decision was made by myself on the recommendation of some of the members of the National Sojourners and the Order of the Eastern Star to increase the amount of gift certificates to $100 each for the 15 needy Marine families. Additionally, there was a donation of two baskets to the Navy Relief for a deserving Marine Corps or Navy family and eight to needy families in the Town of Quantico.
Additionally, there are a few announcements concerning the well-being of some of the Brethren;
Brother Frank Harris returned home from a short stay at the hospital at Fort Belvoir for what can be described as a bad old with non-COVID complications, however his wife Terri remained there to continue recovery.
Unfortunately, Terri succumbed to the virus and passed away on the evening of December 18th. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Summit Presbyterian Church in Stafford at 1:00 pm. Address: 256 Shelton Shop Rd. Stafford, VA 22554
There will be an Eastern Star Ceremony at the start of the service. I do not know how many will be able to participate at this time or if it will be broadcast. All our prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
Brother Earl Covey one of our very senior honored members, remains at the Veterans Home in Washington, D.C.
Brother Roger Easterling is still recovering from surgery for a knee replacement back in November. While he still has trouble using his left shoulder, it is getting better as time goes on.
Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
Administrative notes and parting shots:
Due to the threat of contagion from the COVID virus, the following closures and cancellations have been put in place:
The Stated Communications for the month of January will be cancelled over concerns of the COVID upsurge. Hopefully this will be the last one on my watch.
Lastly, for February’s Stated Communications we will be holding elections. There will be a tiled and closed installation immediately following.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Randall Arnold, Worshipful Master
